Town located in the north of the island of Sardinia, Provincial capital together with Tempio Pausania.
The town of Olbia features an interesting history and culture, with a considerable number of fascinating archaeological sites: the Riu Mulinu Nuraghe (Cabu Abbas), the Giant's Tomb of Su Monte de S'Abe, the Nuragic Sacred Well of Sa Testa, the Punic walls between Via Torino and Via Acquedotto, the Castles of Pedres and Sa Paulazza, the Roman Aqueduct, the Roman farm of S'Imbalconadu on the road to Padru. In addition to seventeenth-century buildings such as the Simpliciana Library and the Municipal Hall, monumental churches including the Lesser Basilica of San Simplicio and San Paolo erected in the XVIII century. A visit to the archaeological museum, situated on the isle of Peddone, on the road leading to the passenger boarding bridges of Isola Bianca facing the historic town centre should not be missed.
The Fausto Noce Park, 16 acres of greenery in the centre of town with bike lanes, is well frequented by residents and tourists alike.
Olbia has a variety of restaurants, live music venues and shops; the town's night life is provided by several discos and night clubs.
Situated approximately 5 minutes south of Olbia is the Padrongianus Fluvial Park extending over an area of 33 acres, an ideal spot for light trekking and bird watching; bike and canoe hire are available. Guided tours are also available with guides accompanying groups as far as the Nuraghe Torra, whilst pointing out the characteristics of the park.

The townoverlooks the Gulf of Olbia, with a coastline extending for approximately 100km alternating beautiful beaches with clear blue sea and fine white sand to magnificent cliffs. The more renowned beaches include Pittulongu, Bados, lo Squalo,Le Saline, Porto Istana and Marinella.

A market with numerous stalls, including local artisan crafts and typical foods and wines, is held on Tuesdays in Via Vicenza (Bandinu area), and on Saturdays in Via San Gallo (Viale Aldo Moro area).
